Love Foodie PenPal. Actually I really love to receive a package in the mail filled with wonderful food surprises. This month my package was from Lauren.

Lauren lives in Connecticut and she is very dedicated to a healthy lifestyle.  Lauren mom’s is from Porto Rico, Lauren has enjoyed growing up a very strong Spanish influence in her cooking.

My package included her favorite from both world. From her Latin food love she send me Sazon, a popular Spanish/Latin seasoning with a couple of recipes to go along: Stuffed Yuca Fritters and Rice & Pigeon Peas. She also included Bacalarto mix, fried codfish cakes.  I love cod and I really enjoyed them.

Being from New England she also included in her package her local favorites: Marshmallow Fluff, delicious combined with locally produced peanut butter from Peanut Butter Co.  Way too fun and good not to be enjoyed even early in the morning. A bag of Utz potato chips from Pennsylvania.

And there is more…. Lauren send me her favorite teas, which I am very familiar with and have been enjoying them in the afternoon, with homemade Chiquita Apple-Banana Streusel Muffins. I will make some soon and will share with all of you her recipe, just a delight at each bite. And last but not least coconut rolled dates.

Thank you Lauren for all the goodies you sent me and for carefully putting together a great box of local products, but most of all for introducing my family to new fun flavors.

  2. Recipes sound wonderful, especially apple-banana streusel muffins: I’ve never found a really perfect recipe. Look forward to it. I’m new to your blog, Ginger’s Boston-area friend Karen.
